Our Vision

Our Vision

To keep the Great Commandment and to fulfill the great commission.

The Great Commandment: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40
The Great Commission: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

OUR STRATEGY (How we fulfill our purpose)

NORTH POINT’S MISSION/VISION STATEMENT
Love people like Jesus loved them, and carry them to Him!

LOVE THEM LIKE JESUS
From CD “Lifesong” – Casting Crowns

The love of her life is drifting away
They’re losing the fight for another day
The life that she’s known is falling apart
A fatherless home, a child’s broken heart

You’re holding her hand, you’re straining for words
You’re trying to make sense of it all
She’s desperate for hope, darkness clouding her view
She’s looking to you

(Chorus) Just love her like Jesus, carry her to Him
His yoke is easy, His burden is light
You don’t need the answers to all of life’s questions
Just know that He loves her and stay by her side
Love her like Jesus – Love her like Jesus

The gifts lie in wait, in a room painted blue
Little blessing from Heaven would be there soon
Hope fades in the night, blue skies turn to gray
As the little one slips away

You’re holding their hand, you’re straining for words
You’re trying to make sense of it all
They’re desperate for hope, darkness clouding their view
They’re looking to you

Just love them like Jesus, carry them to Him
His yoke is easy, His burden in light
You don’t need the answers to all of life’s questions
Just know that He loves them and stay by their side
Love them like Jesus

Lord of all creation holds our lives in His hands
The God of all the nations holds our lives in His hands
The Rock of our salvation holds our lives in His hands
He cares for them just as He cares for you

So love them like Jesus, love them like Jesus
You don’t need the answers to all of life’s questions
Just know that He loves them and stay by their side
Love them like Jesus – Love them like Jesus

NORTH POINT’S FOCUS
Worship
Home Groups

Worship
We seek to provide quality, relevant worship for our adults and children.
Home Groups
Home groups are a vital part of North Point church and are intended for discipling our members. Jesus started the first small (home) group with the twelve disciples. We have been witness to people being comfortable, and willing to take part in the home group setting. Like Jesus and his disciples, the environment for teaching and fellowship, as well as missions’ emphasis, are the foundation for small groups.

These are the two areas that we focus on, and try to specialize in. If anything takes the place of, or takes the focus off of these two areas we do not take part in it!

OUR LIFESTYLE STATEMENTS

Beliefs are not worth much unless they are lived out in actions. Based on what the Bible teaches, we feel very strongly about the following seven practices:

1. Bible as our sole authority.
“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16
Since God’s Word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority, we accept the Bible as our manual for living. We strongly encourage daily Bible reading, Bible study, and Bible memorization. The Bible is the basis for all we believe.

2. Autonomy of each local church.
“And He (Christ) is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy.” Colossians 1:18

Christ is the recognized head of our church. While we recognize the value of associating and cooperating with other groups of Christians, we believe every local church should be self-governing and independent from any denominational control.

3. Priesthood of every believer.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God…” 1 Peter 2:9

We believe every believer has direct access to God.

4. Tithing
“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.” Leviticus 27:30

“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ “In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse – the whole nation of you – because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not have room enough for it.” Malachi 3:8-10

Tithing means giving 10%. We practice tithing for the support of Christ’s Body, the church, as God commands. We recognize that giving 10% of our income is the biblical standard of giving. This is one part, one small part, of giving ourselves completely to God.

5. Immersion
“In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.” Colossians 2:11-12
We practice baptism by immersion under water – the way Jesus was baptized, and the way the Bible commands.

6. Spirit-Filled Living
(Jesus said) “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us. So we seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right. (Ephesians 5:18; Philippians 2:13)

7. Tell Others About Christ
“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” 1 Peter 3:15
We encourage people to be honest about their relationship with Christ, and to be intentional in inviting family and friends to take part in home groups and worship.
